DIEKIRSH MILITARY MUSEUM

Today Charlotte and I drove down to Luxembourg to visit two museums.

The first one was the Luxembourg Military Museum in the town of Diekirsh.

This museum is outstanding with excellent dioramas of battle scenes of the Ardennes Offensive. These dioramas are so realistic that one could easily believe that they are real life.

On display are immaculately restored American and German vehicles of war from the Sherman tank to German Panzers as well as artillery pieces and shells from both sides. All the hand weapons have been restored – Schmeisers, M42 machine guns, PanzerSchrecks, Panzerfausts – the full range.

Uniforms, insignias, caps, helmets, shoulder tabs, medals, rank insignias, documents are on show.

This museum is a masterpiece.
